Billy Bogus & Max Paparella - Mistero Mecca

from Tensione Casio by Billy Bogus, Max Paparella

/
  • Limited Edition 7" Vinyl - Billy Bogus & Max Paparella
    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Tensione Casio is a record/project entirely devoted to a “cinema di genere” / genre cinema which no longer exists but still keeps being referred to nowadays: from Umberto Lenzi’s car chases (strictly on Alfetta), to Lucio Fulci’s visual deliriums and more, from Riz Ortolani’s illusory relaxations to Augusto Martelli’s detours on the theme. Directors who blends and get confused with their composers bringing about a precise iconography, a layered universe of sounds and images.

about

The mendacious festiveness sprinkled with marimba and accordions hides a trap, a vision obnubilated by arabic phrasing, drums syncopation and a vague sense of dry alienation from the 4th world.
A B-movie trained ear would find echoes of “Zombi 2 OST” by Fabrizio Frizzi or a classic Arthur Lyman but the Middle- Eastern/ Neapolitan alienations take us to a film such as “Comfort for Strangers” by Paul Schrader, where a timeless Venice is deliberately confused with Costantinopoli.

about

Pizzico Records Italy

2007 born Pizzico avails itself of politically uncorrect aesthetics to sound the dramatic and obscure sides of last decades, from darkest double identities of the 80’s to pleasant soul decadences of the 90’s, looking forward trying to reach for the good sound, starting from the assumption that all the true art on earth is dirty and torbid, even if it makes you perceive a foreshortening of the sun. ... more
